Diabetic retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common serious complications of diabetes and is the name given to changes in the retina at the back of the eye that, if allowed to advance, can lead to serious vision damage or loss.

The National Screening Service is part of the Health and Wellbeing Division of the Health Service Executive in Ireland.
