Wednesday 10th August 2016 marked the launch of an animated 3D video which focuses on the development of Diabetic Retinopathy and the complications associated with the condition. The video also highlights the importance of early detection and diagnoses to ensure those effected receive immediate and appropriate treatment. Diabetic Retinopathy screening plays a key role in the early detection of the condition. Diabetic RetinaScreen offers regular eye screening to people with diagnosed diabetes, aged 12 years and over, who are registered with the programme. Learn more at www.diabeticretinascreen.ie.

This 3D animated video was created by Sean Kirwan, Medical Scientist, during a Knowledge Exchange Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) with University College Dublin and ICON Firecrest, funded by the Health Research Board. Lead Pharmacologist was Sean Kirwan and 3D Graphic Designers included Carlos Tena and Tomás O'Sullivan of ICON Firecrest. Support Pharmacologist was Dr Paul Halley of ICON Firecrest.
